Bio


Catherine Bebout received an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in Printmaking and Sculpture. She is a Professor of Art and the Director of Printmaking at Montclair State University since 1996. Bebout has exhibited her work nationally and internationally with solo exhibitions in Shanghai, China, Quebec, Canada, and Auckland, New Zealand. As a Fulbright Senior Research Scholar to India, her work was in a traveling exhibition that opened at the Ruchika Art Gallery in Goa and travel to the Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai and Lalit Kala Akademi in Chennai, India.

National solo shows include Anchor Graphics, Chicago, University Gallery at William Paterson, NJ, Harley Gallery, Adelphi University and the Giordano Gallery, Dowling College, NY.

Selected regional venues include the International Print Center, Susan Teller Gallery, A.I.R Gallery, and the Center for Book Arts, New York. National invitational exhibitions include The Print Center, Philadelphia, the Indianapolis Art Center, the Sonoma Museum of Art and Scripps College, California. Her work was also included in the 2008 International Novosibirsk Print Biennial in Russia.

In addition to her exhibition record, Bebout has participated in a number of international artist in residency programs such as the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium, Silpakorn University in Thailand, and Engramme in Quebec, Canada. Her work is in numerous public collections such as the New York Public Library, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and The Musee des Beaux Arts, Antwerp, Belgium.

Essays regarding her work have been published in the Journal of Contemporary Impressions, the New Art Examiner, and Hand Papermaking. Bebout received a 2008 Individual Artist Fellowship Grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. She has also received grants from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, as well as research grants in printmaking from the Canadian and Belgium governments.
